Which Tropical Fish can live in Aquariums without Power / Electrical Devices?

Tropical fish are found in aquatic tropical environments around the globe, classified as freshwater & saltwater fish. Tropical is a term used for species found in tropical environments, mostly those hobbyists keep in warm fish tanks.

Such fish are available in bright colours. The bred fish may have long fins. Some of them are hybrids of more than one species.

Tropical fish need a filter for cleaning water, & producing enough beneficial bacteria to avoid fish from stress & dying. An aquarium light is required & certain species will need a heater too. However, if certain conditions are met then, your tropical fish can live in fish tanks without needing heater, filter, aerator & lights. You can setup a no power fish tank for tropical fish that does not need any electrical appliances such as heater, filter, aerator & lights.

To keep your no power tropical fish tank warm, it should be placed in a warm room. Outdoor temperature is harsh & it fluctuates frequently therefore, if you have setup your aquarium in a warm room, then there is no need to add a heater.

You can keep fish in a no filter fish tank by changing partial water to remove toxic chemicals released from fish waste, leftover food, & other detritus. Plants can also replace filters, as they suck nutrients released from fish poop, uneaten food & other detritus.

Replace partial water with fresh de-chlorinated water. Freshwater has oxygen, hence there would be no need to add an air pump & air stone for aerating water. Aquatic plants also help oxygenate water in the presence of light.

For a no power aquarium, room light is enough for many species of aquatic plants & fish. Plants need light for photosynthesis which involves absorbing CO2 & releasing oxygen. Therefore, for an aquarium that does not have any bubbler, you can add plants that will absorb CO2 released by fish, & produce oxygen for fish to breathe.
