Many new & expert fish keepers keep Glofish in their aquarium because of their beautiful glowing colours. Glofish are extremely enjoyable, however with any aquarium fish there are certain light & aquarium conditions that aquarists need to maintain so the fish can live the best life.

At night, there is no need to turn on the light in the Glofish aquarium. Fish like humans need dark for sleep so if you keep the light on during the night, it will affect their sleep cycle. Also, if tank lights are on for over twelve hours a day, then it will increase chances of algae growth in aquariums. Then, your aquarium will require more maintenance, & will affect the health of the aquarium inhabitants.


Do glofish need light all the time?

Do not turn on the light all the time in the Glofish aquarium. It is not recommended to keep the light turned on for over twelve hours a day. Exceeding the limit of 12 hours of light per day will disrupt your fish sleep cycle, & produce heaps of algae.

 

Do glofish need led light?

Fish do not highly require specific types of light in their tank. Any type of light will work for Glofish so they do not need LED light for survival. Glofish do not necessarily need LED light for endurance, however, aquarists need a stunning LED light to see the bright glowing colours of their Glofish.

 

Do glofish glow in the dark?

Yes, Glofish glows in the dark. Scientists genetically modified this fish by adding genes to them which generate proteins that shine.

The reason for Glofish modification was to make fish types that could detect water pollution. However, scientists were not able to achieve this. Fortunately, they found out that Glofish are the best pets that aquarists can keep in their home aquariums.
