The Golden Severum is derived from the famous Severum Cichlid. Severum fish are one of the favourite fish of both novices & professional fish keepers. They seem like Discus fish, in the shape of their body, & look laterally compressed oval shaped. Severum Cichlids are different from Discus fish in their colouring & size. Severum fish can grow up to 8 inches in length while Discus fish can grow up to 12 inches long.

 

How to Setup an Aquarium for Golden Severum?

Golden Severum can reach up to 8 inches in length but they are commonly semi-aggressive. Choose a large fish tank for Golden Severum. When you buy little Golden Severum from fish stops that are around two inches in length, then my recommendation is to choose at least a 20 to 30 gallon aquarium. When they grow up, then it is time to shift them to a 55-gallon aquarium. Change partial water frequently to keep nitrates level in control.

Golden Severum are semi-aggressive. Their temper varies from one fish to another. The aquarium specifications & ornaments for these fish are largely based on their personality. If your Severum fish is aggressive or territorial, then it is recommended to setup a bigger fish tank for them.

Some of the Severum Cichlids would not like to live with another fish. While some of them would like to share their aquarium with others.

Some of the Severum Cichlids will eat small fish. They are tough & can live for over 5 years in captivity. Some of them can survive for up to 10 years if proper conditions & maintenance is done.
