Pacific Blue-eyes:

This specie is available in fresh & brackish water, & are found in many of Australia’s Pacific coastline. Pacific Blue-eye live happily in groups & they are active & peaceful fish, & can be kept in harsh conditions. They like to live in small community in planted tanks with other mates similar in size. Golden Eeltail:

Golden Eeltail has another name Hyrtl’s Tandan, & it is an active catfish found in northern Australia. This specie can live in tanks with medium to large size mates. They may eat smaller species so avoid keeping them with smaller fish. They do not need much care, & love to eat any available food & can survive in harsh conditions. You can offer them blackworm or worm as treats. This specie can reach up to 20 cm, but normally they do not grow large enough.

This fish is native to Australia. River Murray Rainbowfish belongs to tropical & subtropical community, but range of this specie extends into warm temperature regions but can endure even in low temperatures.

The fish can attain a size of 10 cm, but many of them are smaller than this. Males of River Murray Rainbowfish are larger than females.

It is a hard fish & people keep them in aquarium. It can do great even at low water temperatures but recommended water temperature for this fish is 22 to 26 Degree-Celsius.

Northern Purple Spotted Gudgeons:

A wide spread fish, with different colors & sizes. They like eating chunky live or frozen diet, but can swallow pellets too. Avoid introducing smaller or long finned species to Northern Purple Spotted Gudgeons tank, as they might devour or hurt them. Place a cover on top of tank as Gudgeons can jump outside if not covered. Silver or Red Scat:

Scats are different deep-bodied specie, available in coastal areas of northern & eastern part of Australia. Blackmast:

Blackmast needs hard alkaline water for a healthy life, & do not mix them with aggressive fish including Cichlids.

They are found in limestone country, where water is available in hard & alkaline. They do not live in softer water conditions.

The required pH of Blackmast is 7.6 – 8.2, normal hardness is 250-400ppm, & they like to live in salty tanks. In home tank, salt is not required but still they prefer living in hard alkaline water. They may not live healthy life if water condition is softer.


Silver Perch:

Silver Perch are longer & slender in young age, but as they grow they take a deeper form & normally their color is grey-green.

People breed this specie in Australia. They like standard diets including frozen foods & pellets. They are omnivore in nature & like to eat a range of diet such as shrimps, aquatic insects, yabbies & more.

Juvenile Silver Perch like to live in tank with no heater. Add some live plants or rock cover as this specie needs hiding places. They are active 24 / 7 that can disturb other mates living in the same tank, but still they are better community fish.
